Enabling Works

The project began with enabling works to prepare the site for landscaping. Landstruction received a pre-topsoiled area at both the front and rear of the property, with footpaths around the sales area already installed.

From this foundation, the team was able to efficiently build out the hard and soft landscaping package.

Hard Landscaping

As part of the scheme, we installed a range of carefully selected hard landscape features, which were designed to enhance both the functionality and character of the garden, whilst still providing ecological value. This included fitting seating areas, bespoke timber elements and wildlife-friendly installations.

The hard landscaping provided structure and usability, helping to create a welcoming outdoor space that complements the soft planting.

Soft Landscaping

To create a garden landscape that was attractive and eco-friendly, the next step was planting.

We started by introducing layered planting beds mixed with shrubs, ornamental trees and pollinator-friendly flowers – including lavender and salvia. This, alongside using peat-free compost and organic mulching, was done to provide year-round colour and sustainability best practices to actively support the local wildlife.

Ecology

Prioritising biodiversity at this modern residential garden required a detailed ecological design plan.

In a bid to demonstrate that outdoor spaces can be both low-maintenance, and good for the surrounding environment, we integrated pollinator-friendly planting with wildlife habitats and sustainable practices, including rainwater harvesting and the use of permeable surfaces.

Sustainable timber

A key feature of this garden was the timber structures which have become a natural focal point, adding both warmth and texture to the overall landscape.

Sustainable timber was used to craft the stylish decking area, hexagonal gazebo and bespoke planters to really enhance the overall look and feel of the area.

The timber structures were each crafted and installed within the six-week period we spent on the site.

The hexagonal gazebo is one of the most eye-catching, stand-out features on the site and required skilled hands to achieve its distinctive form and stability.

Adapting to the Land

Our team is always prepared to tackle the challenges that come with every new project.

On this site, we found that the heavy clay soil was causing persistent drainage issues and cracking in the dryer months. Soil analysis and careful plant selection were essential in being able to quickly overcome this issue and formed an environment suited to the conditions.

MAINTENANCE

To ensure this environment continues to thrive, we implemented a weekly maintenance programme which includes; mowing, pruning, weeding, watering, and mulching, alongside seasonal activities such as, leaf clearing and pest monitoring.

This is the best approach to ensure the garden maintains its year-round appeal and ecological benefits.
